Hi Carl,
This is working really nicely. Just a few comments:
Are you able to get 'Iotchartsdemo' to invert the plot (for example, by having every point multiplied by -1) in order to get the declination the right way up? Also, I assume that the Y values are in Hz. Presumably you could use the conversion factor provided by SPEAK sensors to convert these into nT values. Did you manage to get Arduino to export to excel?

Hi Stu Google dont seem to have completed their work on the IOT chart and still appears to be a basic demo with limited input ie date from/to, number of points and Thingspeak channel number to read from. It is a better chart than Thingspeak which is fairly basic in resolution.
My plan was to have a website with a live chart with good resolution like IOT demo. You can do this with Thingspeak charts but they just dont have the detail I would like. Have yet to find a suitable solution.
Good idea ref the Hz to nT values that should be doable will have a look at that.
Im still stumped as to why the readings produce a minus number I can see any particular reason for it. I looked at the program and dont see why they come out this way.
In regards to Excel yes that is easy to do.
If the Arduino board is connected to a PC it outputs its serial data to whatever port its connected to. Then you can use a free program called RealTerm to capture the data with date/time from the port and write to a named folder which in notepad format is Date, Time and Reading.
In Excel you then set it up to read the data from the named folder automaticly straight to graph format live as such. This is where it can be inverted automaticaly the correct way up(invert graph) and of course other formulas added.
My current setup is not connected to a pc and is just sending data to Thingspeak via wifi direct but if plugged into a spare pc can do both
