Fun with the SHG
Testing continues. Lots of sunshine this morning, time to do a few runs with the Sol'EX (more info on this great project http://www.astrosurf.com/solex/sol-ex-p ... on-en.html ) With all the info on these pages, could build this (even if I include the price of the 3D printer) for less than a Lunt 50.
Still might need to do a few minor adjustments to the collimator but already fairly happy with the result
Rgrds,
Paul

Re: Fun with the SHG
With a spectroheliograph you should be able to observe/image in any spectral line! And that Ha image looks really good!!

Re: Fun with the SHG
That's really nice. Did you use Microsoft ICE to stitch together several images? Did 480mm FL not fit entirely on the imaging slit? What frame rate did you use at 16x sidereal?

Re: Fun with the SHG
Thanks everyone for the comments.
Also tried Ca-K this morning, but couldn't get a good scan. Later I noticed a dust mote on the slit. Cleaned, next try tomorrow.

The slit is 4.5 mm. This month it would probably just fit (disk size 4.4 mm) but difficult. Need more practice for that. So just 2 scans and stitching with Microsoft ICE. The frame rate was 440 fps. That's really nice. Did you use Microsoft ICE to stitch together several images? Did 480mm FL not fit entirely on the imaging slit?
