Hi Wah
congratulations, looks very neat. Would you please give some more information about the inside of the long bar?

A long focal length Littrow design.
Very neat....
What are you using for the slit?
Which grating do you use?

Re: My newly DIY spectroscope and first light
I don't know how to make a good metal slit, so I just use a piece of paper to make a temp slit.
I think I will find a metal one and replace current slit.
I got a 30mm x 30mm grating from a China surplus shop and don't have its detail spec, I guess around 600g/mm

Wah,
Surplus Shed sell cheap adjustable slit assemblies....you can also use a couple of pencil sharpener blades mounted on a perforated fridge magnet to make pretty good slits.
Yes, the grating is probably a 600 l/mm.
I have a spreadsheet, SimSpecV4 which will allow to to calculate the outcome with various cameras etc. Drop me an email for a copy.....

Re: My newly DIY spectroscope and first light
Merlin66,
I have been waiting for Surplus Shed slit for several months...
I will try the blades with magnet later.
The collimation for this toy is not so easy, the sharpness of the spectrum lines are not good and not even, I think I will try to use laser light to help collimation later.
Can you send the spreadsheet to [email protected] ?
Thank you!
