Nice mod, Walter! Hope it will work even better after this mod.
Thanks a lot for these pictures. Very impressive.

Excellent! That's what I like to see, something that is taken apart as soon as it is bought. Just the thing I do too

Hi Stephen
thank you very much for your comment
Believe it or not, here is the first shot through a modded QUARK used in WL mode

Re: Appenzellersun, modding a QUARK
Walter has a point in that extensions may be necessary for some scopes. This is the one I used to get mine going. 2 inch EP to a EP projection adapter. This will negate unscrewing stuff. I have another adapter set-up I will try when weather permits.

Re: Appenzellersun, modding a QUARK
It does look like the Quark will lend itself well to getting any screw in adapter to get on the device. A good thing in my opinion, especially when there is a myriad of scopes, telecompressor etc. that will be used with it.

Re: Appenzellersun, modding a QUARK
BTW, I opted for the extension because my stock Celestron 102 focuser gets very sloppy the farther rearward it gets. This causes or nemesis Mr. Newton ring to appear. The adapter keeps the focuser travel to a minimum and helps keep the Quark square with the imaging plane. The two compressor screws make me feel better about Quark NOT falling out.
Because of the Quarks ability to "adapt" it "could" become the weapon of choice for a lot of less well heeled imagers.

Indeed. I think the quark will be a hot, just hope daystar can meet the demand and don't end up with long waiting lists...

Hi Joe and Mark
jup there we go with another modding field. We will be having lots of fun. I don't think there has been a gear placed on market and being modded so fast after ist presentation

Re: Appenzellersun, modding a QUARK
Doesn't look like any modding needed. It is well thought out and engineered such that any screw on adapter known to man will be able to thread in/on. No doubt the coming telecentric and 2inch EP holder will also just thread on.

Re: Appenzellersun, modding a QUARK
Walter,
The Quark looks impressive.
Biggest concern I have is the heating time.
In Ireland, the sky would probably be cloudy again by the time it has heated fully. ;-)
Did you order direct from Daystar or from a European dealer?
Thanks,
Michael.

Re: Appenzellersun, modding a QUARK
Hi Michael
thank you very much. I ordered direct. Concerning the heating up we have almost the same situation here. If you first get the Quark plugged in when you decide to do solar, you should get along. Do not unplug it, otherwise you need additional time until it is on band again
