LS60THA + Skywatcher Evostar 102/1000mm

Post by NewtFan »

Thanks to Solar Chat Forum, I bought this spring Lunt LS60THA/B1200C intention to build a 200mm ... 250mm Ha telescope (sometime in the future).
First aid my Ha aperture hunger I did this 750 euro 102mm Ha modification.

This mod is meade only the camera use - NOT FOR VISUAL USE !

110mm D-ERF fit in SkyWatsher dewcap loose (my dewcap bore is 112.65mm , average - it is slightly oval, but that 2mm thick aluminum tube easy to shape round by hand)
I cut a 10mm ring from 110/103mm PVC pipe plug. Because the ring was a bit too small, I cut it off, and put a 8mm piece of PVC in between ring,
so that the ring tightly fit. Tight ring was easy set in the right place in dewcap. When the ring was in right place, I super glued it. Super glue is absorbed by capillary in narrow gap dewcap and PVC ring - and stays!
Outer PVC ring to prevent falling out of D-EFR is attached with three screws.

I removed SW fokuser, and attached extension tube (I meade it 100/90mm PVC tube - Lunt fit inside without machining!)
Removed Lunt 60mm front lens, and insert Lunt in plase. Thats it.

I hope the pictures will help.

I read my first posting, and I din't understand much about it  Google translate my thoughts not so right. I feel sorry for you - blame Google translator not me for my horrible english.

Back to business.
Thank you for your encouragement!

Without the 2x barlow there is great amount of vinetting, here is two examples.. only some extent sharpened, and not so good seeing. (pics 2014-07-05)
Instead shooting prominences (pics 2014-06-15) , vinetting not interfere so badly. Of course, flat images would eliminate the vinetting problem, but how to shoot flats with Ha scope ?? Prominences pics are modified quite a lot, (lot of curves and sharpening) .

Hi John

we use a transparent plastik foil to take the flat. PE works, PVDC not
