I have a TS 50mm Doublet APO Refractor 50/330mm f/6.6 That I will be using my Quark on when it returns from being repaired.
My question is if I mount a Lunt 50mm etalon on the front will I get """""wow that was worth spending 1 thousand dollars on""""""
I don't have a problem spending the money but if it's not going to improve the view I won't do it.
What do you think.
Some thoughts please

Alan,
If it were me, I'd double stack a PST etalon with the SM90 (when it gets back!) You'd probably need to review your scopes and add/ replace to have an f10 refractor.
Just my 2c

Re: Some thoughts please
Hi Alan
just what Ken wrote. I would get me a fairly simple f/10 scope with a good focuser.
Have fun in the sun

Re: Some thoughts please
If to use SM90mm, then the refractor must be not just an F/10 refractor, it must has a focal length of 900mm and at least 90mm aperture. Then it will work at full 90mm aperture and at full aperture of the PST etalon = highest resolution and largest sweet spot on the sun.Merlin66 wrote:Alan,

Re: Some thoughts please
If you have a 50mm Lunt etalon already then give it a go, alternatively use the quark on the back of that 50mm scope as is, you will get nice results.
Basically, I would try as many possible combinations with all the bits of kit you own; mix and match is always fun!

Re: Some thoughts please
Mark I don't have a 50mm etalon but I have a SM90 being repaired for the second time and if I ever get it back in a working condition I will try the Quark on the back of it, until then I will just use the Quark on the 50/330.

Re: Some thoughts please
Hi Alan,
I have the quark and the lunt ds 50 and can try this set up, as I get better weather (it's very bad by now)
I wonder if the ds50 leave enough light for the quark, let's see
