Dear Forumers,
I would like to ask your opinion and older links (found some, but maybe you know better) about PST and Lunt50 mods.
I see most of you are using PST mods. I would like to know if price doesn't matter (as I might have the chance for a decent price Lunt50 filter), which one is the way to go, what are the advantages and disadvantages?
I would make a scope which is about 120-150mm aperture, not sure about it yet.
Thank you
Gabor

Re: PST vs. Lunt50 mod - which and why?
The PST mod is optimized for an f10 donor....
I think the internal Lunt 50 etalon is working at f7.
For a stage 1 mod I'd think both would perform well.

Thanks for the reply. What does "stage 1 mod" means?

The stage 1 mod is where the original etalon housings and blocking filters are reused.
Basically you replace the original objective with a suitable donor OTA plus an ERF.
The stage 2 mod is where the etalon is removed from the original solar scope and used on a suitable donor OTA/ ERF with a larger blocking filter.
I have a write-up available on the PST mods, just drop me an email for a copy.

Very interesting mod, my friend made a similar one, but he let the front lens in front I guess. I send him your thread!
