Quark Chromosphere + Lunt's BF 600

Post by soulvagabond »

Hey guys,
I'm currently searching for the solution to my Quark's rusted barlow, to be used on my Lunt 50 with BF600 diagonal
One of the options, is getting x4 Powermate, which supposedly simply screws onto the Quark, once it's native filter/telecentric part is removed.
Since the BF filter is also removed, I'm thinking about using Lunt's BF600 diagonal, which has 6mm filter vs Quarks 12.5mm.
My question is, for strictly visual observation, will vignetting be an issue, with the smaller filter?

Show your Quark's rusted barlow, please.

Have you tried cleaning the residue off with anything?

Not sure how you plan to rig that b600 in what you propose above. The only way I could imagine would be with the bf600 after the quark, in which case you would have a lot of energy entering the etalon, which it was not designed for. The quarks blocker is at the very front end of the system to keep energy out of the unit.

Quarks telecentric assembly unscrews along with the blocking filter, so, if I use the Powermate 4x, that will eleminate Quark's blocking filter as well.
The plan is to use Lunt's diagonal, with the Quark inserted in to the eyepiecepart of it.
I will also need some sort of 2'' to 1.25'' adapter, since x4 powermate is 2'', or, I believe, the Lunt's diagonal has T2 threading as well, so, possibly 2'' to T2 adapter
