Bresser 127/1200 Stage 2 Mod

Post by FRAZ »

Hi All,

I had a 100mm Mod, built with the assistance of Solarhound a couple of years ago. I decided to try to upgrade with the Bresser 127 and sticking the 110mm ERF inside the tube.

My difficulty was going to be in finding the majick spacing and then fitting the etalon with no machining capability. I have come up with a solution using this scope that may be of interest to others.

I am using the Etalon / Focuser / BF combo from my existing Mod so that will make it much easier.

Fraz.

The method of inverting the focuser to achieve etalon position without cutting the tube or manufacturing a part.

Thank you Gus.

The principal reason for the Mod was to find a method that Modders with no machining access can enjoy the benefits too.
Anyone can PM me for advice on this Mod, many others can provide better expertise generally and the wider forum is a better bet for that.

Thanks for this, interesting info and a good mod. This is one (of the many!) potential scopes on my shopping list...

Additional relevant information: When you invert the focuser, it allows you to extract focuser and therefore the etalon position to find the optimum position. I initially found the focuser tube position at best in the fully retracted position and could find the same quality a few centimeters out.

I have never tried to push further to the negative but it is possible that it is better there. (Please let me know if you find it can be improved)

Cheers,
Fraz.
