remote focussing added to scope

Post by skyhawk »

I am NOT good at describing things so I have attached images, the FINAL belt used to drive the focusser from the Skywatcher unit

http://www.opticalvision.co.uk/astronom ... cuser.html

attached to the actuall scope focusser via home made (as I couldn't find one the right size) belt, from a cut down vacuum cleaner belt

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1

and shaped cycle inner tube repair kit

Now with 30' of leads it is easy to image from indoors

Looks good! I've popped this in the mods section as is better suited there.

I hope you have better luck with your focuser motor, control paddle than I did. Mine rapidly flattened the first 9V battery.
It then ran continuously one way but completely ignored releasing the active button and totally ignored the other button.

The little motor and housing is neat so I may bypass the useless control paddle. I only need maximum speed anyway.
A simple rubber band or thin O-ring makes a suitable drive belt. It also allows the focuser to be manually adjusted without removing the belt.
