Getting better...Sunspot with 152mm PST Stage 1

Just wanted to check in and say the continual stream of advice here is making my images better. This is a stack of 43 using Autostakkert with some slight curves in GIMP. I did the stacking and the curves remotely using my tiny phone so they ended up pretty dark, but I actually like it in this case! :)

And as always, comments for improvement welcomed. For instance, I still shot in color (not having good time with mono yet) and I did not do any sharpening or wavelets (Registax is flaky for me as many of my tools minimize and never come back to where I can view them in an expanded state).

That's pretty impressive. Persevere with mono would be my advice.

Jack,

My advice to use about 67% of the present scale. You will not loose the reasolution, but will win in Signal/Noise and can use shorter exposures, will gain in the FOV size. And, of course, no coloration till your post processing is finished.

Thank you, Val. Can you explain more about your suggestion to use 67 percent of the current scale? I am not sure what that means in execution. Is that telling the camera to capture a smaller region of interest? Or telling my stacker to use a region of interest?
