Good day everyone...
A question for those of you who are double stacking a Quark with a Pressure Tuned Lunt scope, regarding how much the double stack increases the exposure required to get a decent image.
I have tried to DS my Quark Combo behind the Lunt DSII on the modded scope and no matter what amount of amplification I use ahead of the Quark the exposures are terribly long...into the multiple 1/10s of a second exposure. As you can imagine, the results are terrible with the long exposures and long exposure interval from start to finish.
The typical results of the CR-150/DSII with the 3x or 2.7x amplification are in my usual posts. If I remove the B1800 and replace it with the Quark Combo (chromosphere), in the imaging train after the DSII etalon the result as described above is what I have.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe I'm configuring the pieces int eh wrong order, but can't really see how else to assemble it all.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Brian

Re: Lunt Pressure Tuner + Quark Question
Do you use the anti reflection filter on the Lunt module Brian? If so, this is polarised, and, the output from the Quark is polarised which would explain such a loss of light.

Re: Lunt Pressure Tuner + Quark Question
Agere with Mark, there should be something in the train that makes image considerably dimmer.
With front DERF ---> Lunt PT ---> Quark BF ---> Quark etalon I don't have any issue... however my Lunt part is SS, not DS.

Raf...
Thanks for confirming your lineup of equipment in the imaging train, I think mine is essentially the same. The Lunt etalon is the double stack module but only acts like a single stack in the mod. You have posted pics of the mod you have...have you got one with the Quark installed?
Thanks,
Brian

Re: Lunt Pressure Tuner + Quark Question
Here is a picture of my set up and a couple of images. Usually I reserve the stacking to good seeing conditions as it's not always easy to find the best matching between PT and Quark tunings, for example my Quark tunes better in summer, Lunt PT in winter (don't ask me why) but when both tunings match images are really beautiful.
