Focusers for Lunt 50

Post by Gingerfish »

My Lunt 50 is back in business! But I am looking to ditch the crappy helical focuser. I know I can buy a MoonLite or Feather Touch, but neither of them will take my ZWO EAF. So I'm looking at a short Newt focuser like this one:

I can probably get TS to make me an adapter, but has anyone tried this? Other recommendations?

I need my motor focus! lol :hamster:

I had both the Moonlite and the Feathertouch for my Lunt50, IMHO the Moonlite is the superior one of the two. The Festhertouch was just too coarse for me with single speed.

The FT is now dual speed as well. And I would buy it in a heartbeat if I could attach my ZWO motorfocuser. But I will see what TS says when they reply. I might have to Frankenstein things to make it work.

Right! Someone just told me to focus the Lunt as well as possible, attach the motorfocuser to the donor scopes main focuser, and then fine focus with that. The few mm you move focus back and forth, wont make any difference to how the ethalon works.

Is this true? If so, then happy days! :hamster:

I did a quick test in between the clouds, and it seems to work just fine! :D
