I am looking for the transmission characteristics of the red glass which is in front of the etalon assembly of my Lunt 50 pressure tuning module but I couldn't find anything, I suppose it is an internal ERF or something like that. I wonder if I can use the PT module without this red glass when there is already a Baader D-ERF placed in front of my Lunt-modified scope.
Thanks for any suggestion.

Re: Red glass inside Lunt LS50THa
Hi,
I do not know anything about the Lunt solar scopes.
Do you refer to the first big glass held by those 2 screws ?
I have a double stacked SM 60 Coronado and normally each etalon comes with its own ERF and one day I thought. If the front mounted etalon already has an ERF why should I ahve a second one and so I decided to just take out the inner one and make a test with my camera and the result was a bit more contrast.
So my Logic tell me that if you have an ERF already at the entrance of the scope for what another inside ? It just steels luminance ...
IMHO

This is most likely a RG630 filter which blocks UV, with an IR reflecting dielectric coating.
It probably can be removed and used safely with a Bader DERF. You still likely will have another RG630 filter in the Lunt blocking filter.

It is RG630

Thank you very much for your answers, my concern was about not to damage the etalon.

With the high transmission of this filter, I feel there is little to be gained from its removal.

Agree, want to remove it because is mounted in a barrel slightly larger than 2" that can't be inserted in the 2" focuser of the receiving scope and therefore requires an extension, this put the etalon in the wrong position. If I remove the barrel I can solve the problem.
