15 July Spectroheliograms

Post by p_zetner »

Hello Everyone.

Managed to set up the spectroheliograph for its first outing of 2018. Windy conditions made the effort a bit challenging and you can see the effect in the H alpha image.

My spectroheliograms in H and Ca are mostly processed. I might yet tweak the H alpha a little to remove some of the artifacts and I also want to look at some off-band images for both lines. I also captured some HeD3 data but have yet to process. I'll be curious to see if there is any evidence of He chromospheric structure associated with the weak AR.

Here are images in calcium (K3) and hydrogen alpha (line centre).

Cheers, Peter.

Good images, Peter. Do the horizontal lines come from the edges of the slit?

Hi Stu.

Thanks. They come from irregularities in the slit linearity and dust in the slit, mostly the latter. Need to clean for next time!

Cheers, Peter.
