ZWO ASI174 remove IR/dust cover removal
Cautious newbie here. I need to modify my out-of-the-box ASI174 MM so that I can reach back focus with my PST. I understand that in order to attach the recommended ZWO low profile adapter, I first need to remove the camera's IR/Dust cover. How do I do this? Do I simply remove the four set screws on the front of the camera, lift out the cover and then screw the outer frame back in? My plan would be then add a IR filter to the nose of the low profile adapter. From what I have read, it then might be necessary to add a 2X Barlow lens (effective,1.6X) in front of the IR filter. Hope this works. Any other suggestions are surely welcome.

I think you can gain about 5mm with the low profile adapter. But then you can't use the protect window of the 174. So you might need an external IR filter, which means you will loose a couple of milimeter again.
Is the cooled or normal version?

Normal version. Yeah, my plan is is to add an external IR filter. Hopefully, the addition of the Barlow lens will help. How do I remove the protect window of the 174?

Figured it out. Removed the four screws, lifted off the frame and plucked out the window.
