Thursday Sun 21st October 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

After a dreadful week of weather (particularly yesterday!!) finally the Sun came out today surrounded by beautiful blue sky with no clouds in sight...wow. That said, the seeing conditions were below average for my location with high frequency shimmering on closer views making sharp images somewhat of a challenge.

Anyhow, here are my FDs and some closeup views of the main features: AR12886, a beautiful surge prom from something coming around the SE limb and a very fine pair of proms including a nice looping prom.

Unfortunately my Ha FD mosaic has a slight light band down the centre. The pressure tuner needed a bit of a tweak.

Wow!! these are amazing Stuart :bow :hamster: I love the prom images. Yes, it has rained non-stop since we got home from holiday but today is absolutely wonderful, I bet it won't last till the weekend.

Stuart,
You are a wonderful imager. All of these look really great! I don't know which is my favorite but that loop prom color image is superb. It looks like you have caught something on the SE limb.

Congratulations on the well-deserved spod, I agree with James, it's hard to choose which one like better.
The light stripe can be manually darkened a little in Photoshop.

Stu,
You caught three little spikes in the SE surge prom while I got two visually. But this type of prom changes quickly. I call it the " Red Devil " prom! Now did you capture the Red Devil or did it capture you!?

I would be curious of it's scale with an earth globe.
