G2 and G3 Geomagnetic Storm Combo 26th-28th Feb 2023

Post by Carbon60 »

WOW...Two great geomagnetic storms over two days, sending social media wild, and all captured on my little home built magnetometer buried in my backyard here in the UK. I love it when space weather comes alive; it makes it all so real for everyone.
Still clouded out so I didn't see any of this myself in the form of northern lights, but it was still exciting to see my magnetometer going crazy. I'm just glad everything is back up and running again in good shape after a disastrous January when the darn thing broke down and I had a lot of repairs and redesign to do. Thankfully, that is all behind me now and I think it is working better than ever :)

Anyhow, here are the resulting charts from the past couple of days:

Maybe you saw the lights yourselves?

As always, thanks for looking.

Wow!! this is amazing :hamster: I wish it had not been raining last night.

Found out why I didn't get any alerts the night before. The Hubby got a new phone a month ago and it seems that you have to actively go on the App to reignite it. Despite being fully signed up, as soon as he went into the app suddenly all the alerts started to come through. The worst luck!!

Thanks, Alexandra. It’s a great pity the weather didn’t cooperate. I looked and it was too cloudy and there was too much light pollution anyhow. Maybe next time?

Good to hear your alert service is up and running again.

Many thanks, Mark. One of the best in years. I’m just glad everything was up and running okay.
