Saturday 20th April 2024
Hi everyone,
Apologies for not replying to everyone's posts recently, but I do read them all. I'm just a bit short of time at the moment with being busy at work and also at home too (getting things ready for the new boat).
On Saturday the forecasts were for amazing sunshine in the morning and with it being only the second sunny Saturday of the year so far, I cleared the diary and set up by 9am. Despite the forecast changing that morning to only sunny until 11am (not 12 anymore), it then changed to 10am. Well, I can say, I managed a 30 second visual through the eyepiece and it clouded up at 9:05am. The Sun looked amazing so I sat for a while watching the clouds scud across the solar surface and took some video anyway. I thought these would never process in ASK3, but they did! I have no idea how because I usually get bad smears with far less cloud. By 9:27 it was all over and totally cloudy for the rest of the day
But, miraculously I got these with the Solarscope DSF100

Both these regions looked like they were flaring.
Very happy with these

Your session sounds very similar to mine, Alexandra. Lovely images. The Sun has been such a pleasure to view and image these past few days.

Excellent shots Alexandra, glad you got a bit of sun! No apologies necessary, I’m retired and sometimes have a tough time to find the time to give all the posts their due!

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

Amazing images and closeups Alexandra.
What aperture are these etalons, 100mm? Quite the Lamborghinis of h-alpha etalons, impressive.

Re: Saturday 20th April 2024
It’s one of 9 which have been built ready for testing in clear sky. I wonder does that mean if there were 9 clear consecutive days on IOM then it’d be in the post on the 10th day! It’s certainly been a lesson in patience when, with a foot stomp, I want it NOW!
Best wishes,
