July Gamma Draconids ----- or maybe not?!!!

Post by Wyvern »

Hi all,
Been running the meteor detection set up over the last week of July to see if any outburst of the July Gamma Draconids would be recorded. IMO reports 19.00UT on the 28th July as "worth checking".
Heat map and graph are below for inspection.
There is a definite pulse of overall activity from 22.00UT on the 28th to 03.00UT on the 29th July, although whether this is due to Draconid activity I don't know. It's a bit later than IMO predicted, and there are several other showers active and "maxing" around the end of July.
Oh well, onwards and upwards to the Perseids then!!!

Regards to all,
Les

Hi Les,

I did not see anything out of normal but have to say that my system at the moment is a bit crazy. I sometimes get up to more then a thousand meteors per day

Looks like some interference or I do not know what is happening.

With the upcoming Perseid shower I will know how it behaves.

Rainer - What happened to your neighbor-he has not shown a meteor scatter presence on RMOB for quite a while?
