Solar Can Analemma
After today's SolarChat zoom I took down my Solar Cans that I have been exposing weekly trying to capture an analemma. I started last March and I had three cans in place. They were exposed once a week (more or less depending on what the weather was doing) at noon for three minutes (each dot) for an entire year. On the winter solstice I left this one open for the entire day to trace the Sun's path. While I missed the full figure eight due to the shadow from the eve of my house that I did not plan for and the other two getting damaged from water I am quite happy with the results of this one!! I hope to try it again soon.
P.S. - I am letting the paper dry out from the other cans and will scan them later just to see what turns out.

Re: Solar Can Analemma
Well done Shawn! This is a great result. I love it. It’s such a commitment to stick with it for a year isn’t it but well worth the effort for the lovely unique image.

Re: Solar Can Analemma
Thank you everyone for the kind words! It was a lot of fun going out each week and picturing what I thought I would get. I'm already thinking of giving it another go to see if I can capture the full figure 8!

Re: Solar Can Analemma
I did not build this one but have built them before. This can came pre-assembled from from the UK at https://solarcan.co.uk/. I have used several of these and highly recommend them if you don't want to build one.
